Our social justice focus for much of the summer will be to tend our garden to grow and harvest produce, particularly green beans, to donate to customers at the Oxford Community Choice Pantry. We will have a short service to connect our summer focus with this past spring’s reading group book, Michael Pollan’s Botany of Desire. Then we will head to the garden to build a “Bean Man Garden Sculpture” companion for our current lonely scarecrow. Russ VieBrooks and Libby Earle will orient us to the garden, and Liz Woedl will supervise Bean Man building. This is an intergenerational service. Service Leader: Ann Fuehrer.
